Learning
to read is easy and teaching someone to read is not so hard
either if you know a few tips and tricks. You will need
some patience and resources. However, if you have the time
and the ability there is no greater gift. If you are
looking to improve your speed reading ability then all you need
is now how. You will also want to stick with it for more
than 21 days, or speed reading will not become a
habit.
Slow reading skills
are learned and will need to be unlearned. That's why
I built this web page. I was a very slow reader but
loved to read. I could not keep up with all the books
I wanted to read. That's why I took up the quest to
learn to read fast. It took me some time and research
to find all the right methods that worked but I did. I
now read at about 5 times as fast as I once did. And
it really wasn't that hard.
Start with the
articles we have here on learning to read and speed
reading. Then as you learn more about the subject of
speed reading, start to explore the resources we talk about
in the articles. It's going to take you a little while
before you have a good understanding of what course or what
way you will want to explore first. Come back often,
we are putting up new articles on speed reading and learning
to read every week.
Speed-reading is a great tool
but not if you don't comprehend what you read. The whole point
of speed-reading is to read and understand material at a faster
pace so more can be accomplished in less time. If you speed
read and then don't know what it was you just read, you haven't
really accomplished anything...
There are many tricks
out there to improve reading skills, but none of them will
work for some of the most serious reading problems. If
your son or daughter has a learning disability, all of the
hooked on phonics in the world will not save them.
What they will need is a good, professional tutor who knows
all about reading, and parents who are willing to take the
time to give them the extra help they need. Improving
reading skills is something that you can only do if you have
reading skills to begin with. It will not work for the
severely disabled.
From an
early age, children are encouraged to write stories. The
creative process amongst youngsters takes precedence over
correct spelling and grammar. That will come later. Kids' minds
can run free when they're learning how to write. They will be
expected to exercise more discipline later on. Writing has to
have rules, for the purposes of understanding but creativity
must never be stifled.
The means of communication has evolved over the centuries,
from writing in the sand with a stick to texting. The only
thing that worries me is that constant texting will erode the
language so much, that it will become unrecognizable. Words
without vowels, abbreviations and symbols seem to be the
norm.
Joining a book club
can be a great idea. It is an easy way to purchase the books
you want quickly and at a discounted price. While book clubs
offer many perks, there are concerns as well. You don’t want
to get yourself locked into a long term commitment or find
yourself paying for books you really didn’t want. There are
some important questions to ask before committing to a
particular book club.
Many book clubs offer a wonderful introductory offer where
you get several books either free or at a very low cost. Find
out about the shipping and handling associated with the
shipments of the books. While most book clubs offer you great
prices on the books, you will end up paying more than at the
bookstore once you add in those shipping costs.
