Handwriting Analysis
Everyone has different handwriting. Just as our personalities and fingerprints are unique, so is our handwriting. Sure, families and close friends could all have similar handwriting. But, there are fundamental differences between the styles of both of them and they often are a reflection of our personalities, beliefs, upbringing, the schools we attended, etc. That is why handwriting analysis is so fascinating. Because by learning about another person’s handwriting, it can give us some clues and glimpses into their lives.
Handwriting analysis, besides being fun, actually has a very practical purpose in that it can be used during criminal investigations to help gather evidence. For example, if someone forged a signature to help them obtain legal power of attorney on an elderly family member for personal gain, an investigation can be launched and handwriting analysis can prove whether or not the signature is a forgery or not. There are an almost infinite number of uses for handwriting analysis when it comes to crime investigations.
People who specialize in handwriting analysis are specially trained to learn the difference between certain things. Two siblings, for example, could have very similar handwriting. As an experiment, each is instructed to write a few words. Someone who is not trained in handwriting analysis is asked to point out the differences between them and they may not find very many, if any at all. Someone trained in handwriting analysis can not only determine all the differences and nuances, but if they had a sample of each person’s handwriting, could probably tell you who wrote which sample.
So, handwriting analysis has its uses when it comes to criminal investigations. This is a form of forensics work and can be learned at a university that specializes in this type of thing. Someone who makes a living with handwriting analysis could be called on at any time to analyze documents and different kinds of handwriting. But, if you choose to pursue this is a career, keep in mind that it can get tedious at times. Even if you are passionate about your job, certain days may seem challenging depending on how intricate the analysis is. But this is all part of the job. If you want to pursue handwriting analysis as a career then you need to take the good with the bad.
